Through the Department of Education Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO), LNESC operates the Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math & Science, and Talent Search programs. TRIO programs are federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and pursue higher education.
According to data from the Department of Education, nationally, 79% of Talent Search participants were admitted to post-secondary institutions.
Through year-long meetings and counseling sessions, LNESC provides over 1,000 disadvantaged students annually with access to high-quality academic tutoring, advice, and assistance in secondary course selection. This includes preparation for college entrance examinations, tips on completing college admissions applications, and information and aid in completing federal student financial aid and scholarships.
