More Than a Dream

About More Than a Dream

Also known as More than a Dream Teen Pregnancy Prevention for Latino Youth, the Education Development Center (EDC) aims to identify youth and parent interventions that address sexual health and pregnancy prevention among Latino youth. Interventions must be developmentally appropriate as well as culturally and linguistically relevant to Latino youth and their parents.

The goal is to reduce sexual and other risk behaviors. Participants are Latino adolescents, ages 12-14, and their parents. The project is evaluated through three individual programs:

  • Cuídate (Take Care of Yourself): a youth intervention

  • Salud y éxito (Health & Success): a parent intervention

  • Más que un sueño (More Than a Dream): a combined youth-parent program

More Than a Dream is a collaboration between EDC, the University of Michigan School of Nursing, and LNESC.

LNESC currently operates five More Than a Dream programs in the following cities:

Colorado Springs, CO
